Jennifer Todd
​Assistant Teaching


A Massachusetts native, Jennifer spent most of her life in Worcester before moving to Natick last year. Jennifer worked as a nanny for several years before deciding to make the transition into preschool teaching by joining the CMS community this past June. Jennifer enjoys cooking and shares her love of the culinary arts with the CMS students.  Her favorite part about joining the CMS community is the bond she has formed with her students.  She enjoys helping her students gain confidence with their practical life skills, especially when it comes to cleaning up after themselves!

Asma Haneef​

Lead Teacher


Miss Asma was born and raised in Mysore, India. She received her bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Mysore and received her AMS certification through the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center in 2016. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Education from Gordon College with a concentration in Montessori education. Before joining CMS, Miss Asma volunteered as a lead preschool teacher for a non-profit organization in Burlington, MA.  Working with young children is her passion, and she is thrilled to work in a Montessori classroom where each child is valued as a unique individual.  While she loves to inspire preschoolers through experiential learning, she is continually amazed by the curiosity and humor of her students.  Miss Asma speaks four languages fluently and enjoys cooking for her family and traveling.  While she loves to inspire preschoolers through experiential learning, she is continually amazed by the curiosity and humor of her students.

Lucie Varatharansa

Owner and Lead Teacher


Mother of two, Miss Lucie was born in Sri Lanka and raised in France. Since graduating college, she has worked and lived in Mumbai, Melbourne, London, Paris, and Stockholm. Spending time with kids, however, is her life’s passion.  In 2004, she went on to complete the Montessori primary teacher credential program in Paris, France. She spent the next two and half years teaching at an AMI certified Montessori school in San Diego, California, where she met her husband Steve. In 2008, she moved to Boston to pursue a MBA at Babson College and founded the Community Montessori School in 2010.  She loves building relationships with her students while teaching them the skills necessary to be independent and helping them to find their own voice.

Vijayalakshmi Mahendran 
(Miss Viji)
​Afternoon Teacher


Born and raised in India, Miss Viji majored in mathematics at the University of Madras, India where she worked as an accountant. She and her husband relocated to Oman for ten years before moving to the United States.  She is set to begin her AMS Montessori training through the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center in 2017.  Miss Viji loves to make arts and crafts, paint, sew, cook, and she is passionate about sharing these activities with her students in the afternoon.  She loves inspiring students to tackle new or challenging curriculum and is continually impressed by their independence and inquisitiveness.

Emma
​Morning Teacher


Born in Shanghai, China, Miss Emma worked for Reader’s Digest, All Recipes online, and as a Mandarin teacher.  She moved to Natick in 2011 because she wanted to be a preschool teacher.  She began her teaching career as a teaching assistant in Brookline. She is EEC certified and completed her AMS program through the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center in 2013.  She joins the Community Montessori School after interning at the Wellesley Montessori School.  Her hobbies include baking and hiking, and she loves being in nature.  She strives to bring her passion for nature and art into the classroom and models to her students how to be good stewards of the earth.  Most importantly, she wants to help all of her students “have love in their hearts forever.”  She has brought Mandarin into the curriculum at CMS  by incorporating Mandarin songs, traditional Chinese dance, and yoga.
